👕 What are the dress codes for ancient temples?
For all active Buddhist sites (Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Kandy), you must cover your shoulders and knees. White or light-colored clothing is highly recommended as a sign of respect. You will need to remove shoes and hats before entering sacred grounds; bringing thick temple socks is useful as stone paths can get hot in the sun.

We arrange a local guide to translate as we meet the chief or elders of the tribe, learn about their forest conservation methods, traditional hunting bows, and pre-Sinhalese language. This is conducted with high ethical respect for the community's privacy and heritage.
🧗 What is the physical difficulty of the climbs?
The climb up Yapahuwa is short but has very steep, narrow stone steps with handrails. Sigiriya Lion Rock has 1,200 secure steel steps, taking about 1.5–2 hours round trip. Ritigala is a gentle forest walk over ancient granite flagstones, and Mihintale has a wide stone staircase. A moderate level of physical mobility is recommended.
